Brief Description Of Project:

Overall branding and development of the current website. The website should have an updated security certificate, updated audio player and compatibility with all the latest devices. The main objective is to bring the website into a more User-Friendly, Interactive and Modern version.

Project Objective:

Initially, the objective is to bring the site into a more current and modern position, for aesthetics as well as ease of use, both from the POV of the end-user as well as the POV of site admin (sponsor) for updates. It would also need to be configured for adaptability for smart devices such as tablets and smartphones – mobile tech, which did not exist when the original site (from which the station site) was cobbled together. One of the major requirements was to source a player that will stream both a live HE-AAC stream as well as a live mp3 stream, that streams 24/7.

Project Innovation:

As a team, we did our research that will help us to modernize the current website according to the client’s requirements. The previous website was not working in the modern platform; hence, our main objective was to upgrade the website to support all platforms. As per client’s requirement, we chose WordPress to create our website as the client was familiar with WordPress and if he needs any update in the future, he will be capable of doing it on his own. We used all the Images from the previous website and made it more modernized and mostly user-friendly. We constantly asked for feedback from the client whenever we updated anything on the pages, the client was satisfied with the all the updates. The previous website was not at all secure, so we purchased the SSL certificate and made the current website securer and safer to use.

Challenges & Solutions:

As a team, we faced many problems and obstacles throughout the project development. After signing the Project charter, the client wanted to change the platform to WordPress, we discussed this with our mentor, she was fine with the change. Hence, we changed our flatform from GitHub to WordPress. We first created the low fidelity model to which the client demanded some updates, we made the required updates to the model as per his instructions. After completing the Low Fidelity model, we started to work on a high-Fidelity model and started creating pages, one by one. After completing the high-Fidelity model, we encountered a problem with our current GITHUB hosting platform; it stopped working because WordPress doesn’t work with GitHub. So, we decided to go with AWS which is free to use. Installing WordPress on AWS was the next challenge, we researched and referred to books, which helped us find a solution and move forward with the project.

In the final step, we migrated the website from AWS to cPanel as per the client’s instruction. To take and retrieve the backup was a major problem, we researched and found a solution. After migrating the website, we had to validate all forms, since we didn’t have access to the client’s email, we held a meeting to get his credentials and linked all the forms, using the information provided by the client.

Project Results or Progress:

The overall project requirement was fulfilled, and the team was able to develop a new and modern website as per the sponsor’s and project’s requirements. Overall development and testing of the website were done at a minimum cost to keep the expenses as low as possible. The sponsor had to pay for the hosting platform. The website was made secure, and a new audio plugin was added to the website. The overall progress of the project went smoothly and we as a team were successful in meeting the client’s requirements and delivering the project within the stipulated timeline. Currently, The website is up and running.

Lessons Learned:

We as a team worked together and did the overall development of the project. We understood the client’s requirements and delivered an output as per his needs. We learned how to work efficiently as a team and at the same time gained knowledge and learned new skills from each other. The overall progress of the project went smoothly, keeping the sponsor’s and project’s requirements in mind.
