To create a strategic document to drive student engagement with the Enactus Fleming College website.
Project Objective:
Our main objective is to improve the Enactus Fleming College website, for which we will be taking steps by understanding the faults, and the changes they want in their website and overall optimization while having the meeting, along with giving suggestions on improving the SEO and mobile optimization.
We would try to make it the best website by improving upon it that they surf upon, get the solutions, for communicating with the Enactus organization, and getting details related to their work.
Project Innovation:
The team brought many different things to this applied project mainly from the learnings of the past semester.
The team brought a different approach to the Fleming Enactus Website by working more closely aligns with the goals of the project.
The team brought a systematic thinking project management approach and principles, to put a plan into a place. Also brought best practices from other websites.
For instance, Learned to prepare Work Breakdown Structure from the Project Management course, Adding an innovative, interactive, and detailed video mentioning all details regarding the team and generally connecting with the Enactus team and community members.
How professional the work should be leaving the impression for the person upon work along with growing and connecting to community members for which website became so important as a virtual means to connect all being taught by Communication course.
The team is in the process to develop the strategic document helping the webmaster to follow through with the changes suggested by the team from brainstorming.
Challenges & Solutions:
Our team worked on changes that need to be addressed by making Enactus Fleming College an error-free website. We gave suggestions on redesigning the Enactus Fleming College website. We are assigned the task to work on the strategic document, whereas the webmaster will handle the technical part.
Our team faced the challenge to look for something unique to change into the market for the Enactus Fleming website. Also, How to display the information, how to phrase it, and divide them into small chunks according to the size of the change simultaneously with the priority of the change to be done depending upon the importance. For eg; short-term, medium-term, and long-term change along with Phases 1, 2 & 3.
The most critical challenge was to put all this gathered and developed information from brainstorming in a form that somebody can easily understand and grasp the language along with executing them. So we created a Work Breakdown Structure divided into phases.
For a technical part to perform we have prepared actionable documents for the webmaster so that he can make changes on the website based on the short-term (less time consuming), medium-term, and the long term also lists down dates classified based on phase1,2 and 3. We have prepared a strategic document that includes work breakdown structure, problems, and solutions.
We identified the problems and strategic alternatives in order to create a strategic document for the Fleming Enactus Website so that webmaster can execute a strategic plan.
Project Results or Progress:
After going through the website at the start of the semester, our team was given a task to work on a strategic document by giving different suggestions & changes to the website design and finding out the solution for the errors on the website.
Throughout the semester we have worked on finding the problems and strategic alternatives to the errors and website design which we have noted down to the Suggested changes document and dividing them into three phases according to the priority of work to be done. Also, we have given a work break down the structure to each of the changes which could be helpful for the webmaster to execute those changes.
Right now, we are about to complete our strategic document to be given to our sponsor as to completing the project requirement along with which could help our webmaster in near future.
Lessons Learned:
The website should be from the students’ perspective which is the most important part of the strategic part of the project. Meaning thereby, they don’t want to look over things and do many searches to get particular information or product details. The team learned that a simplified website could attract more audience than a complex one. Also, each page should solve the purpose of the customer to reach out and be the solution for the customer’s search.
Learned to keep a record of changes updated on the website, along with documenting all the important meetings, timeline, and discussions.
Importance of communication through virtual means by reaching out through email and virtual meetings. The team learned that in all ways, virtual meetings would be more preferable rather than discussing important talks upon e-mail.
We learned how to create a systematic workflow plan which helps to create, remember details and finish the project.
