Brief Description Of Project:

Group of graduated Engineer’s from different fields (Electrical, Mechanical and Production) foregathering to fabricate a robotic version of Fleming mascot. The aim here is to make Fleming mascot which could perform various activities like dancing, cheering, greeting and stuff on its own instead of actually having someone in that costume doing it.

Project Objective:

Client objective is to have a Robotic version of Fleming mascot which could cheer the Fleming sports team in matches and also greet people in events.

Project Innovation:

First in sports and events a person was dressed as a Fleming Mascot to cheer teams in sports and greet people in events, but now with coding and Arduino power we are building a robot which will do all this stuff without much human help.

Challenges & Solutions:

No project is completed without jumping over few or more hurdles. Same was for us, we had few major and minor hurdles like design complications as we had to make mechanical parts which could house electronic parts smoothly. Then there were few parts which had to be made with 3d printer as material’s we wanted were not available in required shape size and also there were few trials before we could get the material we wanted with 3d printer. Wiring and coding too hit with few minor issues like for wiring motors  we need small holes so thereby drilling holes through difficult parts of perfect size, making small pockets for housing wiring near electronic components etc. Figuring out the required code took few trials too as we had to figure out our own code which was not all straightforward.

Project Results or Progress:

We are for now able to move the parts as expected, still have to test it all together.

Lessons Learned:

Everyone has something or the other to learn as we all are from different fields and have been actively participating in coding, Wiring and powering and mechanical designing. We have learned skills like using software’s like AutoCAD, Arduino etc, how to design wiring and mechanical parts and also how to code Arduino for different functions.
