My name is Priyadarsini Gopal. Currently I’m pursuing Global business management at Fleming college. I was working as process executive in an IT firm and also, my friends describe me as a people person and also I’m very passionate about my work.

I am Currently pursuing Global Business management course at Fleming college and I am a strong business development professional with a Bachelor’s degree focused in Accounting and Finance from St.Joseph’s Degree & P.G College. I am an Experienced Analyst with a demonstrated history of working in the management consulting industry.

Brief Description Of Project:

Tutor Peterborough is a tutoring company based in Peterborough, Ontario dedicated to helping students of all ages in Peterborough and the surrounding communities to meet their learning goals and improve their academic achievement.

Project Objective:

The Purpose of the project is to identify the existing opportunities to improve the service. Here our objective for the project as business management students is to create and implement a marketing plan for the project in order to promote and improve the services provided by Tutor Peterborough.

Project Innovation:

For us, the existing technology that we used in an innovative way was the use of social media. For Tutor Peterborough, social media was an untapped resource, as the business used its website and word of mouth technique to promote their services. Thereby we decided to start from the basics and use social media which is such a powerful tool of promotion and integration with consumers to the fullest.

Challenges & Solutions:

Challenge : Due to the current scenario of C-19 we as a team are unable to meet our sponsor or come together in person at a particular location or place where we can meet each other and work.

Solution : We conduct regular meetings through MS Teams and Web Ex where we work together and share our ideas & thoughts. Through the online virtual meeting platforms we are able to manage time and work productively to improve our own skills and to meet our project goals and expectations.

Project Results or Progress:

So far, we have created a marketing plan for our project and a research on how to improve business with the help of social media. We have created accounts in all social media platforms. Created a competitor analysis which shows the competition faced by the business in Peterborough. Conducted research on different methods of advertising the business to improve the strength of tutors and different platforms to hire them. Created cost estimates for advertisements on different platforms.

Lessons Learned:

As a team we learnt, to communicate more whenever it’s required and also we figured out working together is an efficient manner to achieve team’s goal. This has improved our communication skills as we work according to the communication plan that we have learned and prepared. In addition, we all assigned equal responsibility as per the responsibility matrix which we had also learned and created. This has helped us to complete tasks with accuracy and ensuring no deadlines are missed. This has resulted in learning time management. We have also learned to manage the time and plan the work accordingly to make sure that we are on the right track to reach the client goals.

We utilized a lot of time with our mentor as well as with our sponsor and also we trained up with lots of activities we did as a team such as we learned to research more topics for the project preparation, then we came to know how to create pages on social media. On weekly basics, we are updating the logbook, minutes of the meeting, and deliverable’s that we complete in order to know the level where we are. Later, we realized that we formulated better decisions, and we also improved in the strategy as well as in the assigned goals.

As our project’s main motive is to develop the client’s website, here we got the chance to learn the requirements to develop a website. So, we did a competitive analysis to know how other competitors do their promotions in order to attract customers and so on. And finally we learned to increase the trust of the team members by listening to each other’s feedback, and every time we got the proper feedback from our mentor for the development of the team.
